We follow the same steps for every tutor marketplace, class platform and app, so you can judge our comparisons yourself.
1. Official pages first
We take prices and terms from each service’s own website: its pricing page, help centre and terms of service. If a price depends on your country or the tutor, we say so and give the range we could see.
2. Compare like with like
A one-to-one lesson with a tutor is not the same product as an app subscription. We compare services within the same format first, and only then explain how the formats differ in cost and results.
3. Date and recheck
Every price table shows the date we checked it. Subscription prices and promotions change often, so we recheck the main services regularly and update the page date when something changes.
4. How we rank
We rank options by value for a typical learner: price, lesson format, flexibility, trial and refund terms, and how many languages are offered. Whether a service pays us a commission plays no part. See our affiliate disclosure.
What we don’t claim
We don’t publish made-up ratings or personal experiences. Learner ratings belong to the platforms and review sites that collect them, and we only mention them when we can see them on the source page.
